Straight: Lanza Healing Volume Shampoo and Conditioner
I LOVE Lanza’s shampoo and conditioner line. I’m assuming if you have stick straight hair that you are lacking in volume. My recommendation is to use the Lanza Volume Shampoo and Conditioner. This is meant to thicken hair and build body for volume and fullness. All of Lanza’s products are Healing and repair any damage as well as protect color!

I also recommend using the Heat Protectant spray from Lanza before using any heat on your hair. I like to spray a little before blow drying, or when I let my hair dr , I spray it on right before I curl or straighten. This just adds a little extra protection to the hair!

10 oz $17 a bottle, 34 oz $40 a bottle.

Wavy: Matrix Curl Shampoo and Conditioner.
I know it says for curly….but this is THE BEST stuff for wavy hair! It has just the right amount of weight to control frizz.

Along with this, my Number 1 seller is the Lanza Neem Plant Silk Serum. This is better than Moroccan Oil in my opinion. It is weightless and non-greasy so it won’t weigh down your hair. It adds shine and softness, heals and strengthens hair and provides protection from heat and UV rays. I put this on at the very end of my styling right before I hair spray. You can use this even when you don’t wash your hair because it doesn’t build up or get greasy.

10 oz $13 a bottle, 34 oz $25 a bottle

Curly: Redken Curvaceous Shampoo and Conditioner
Curly hair is naturally drier than any other type of hair! So this is perfect for that. It is designed to strengthen and moisturize curly hair while controlling frizz and increasing manageability.

Along with it I suggest the Redken Curvaceous Ringlet Anti Frizz Lotion. This helps to control curls with a soft, shiny hold and touchable finish. It adds definition to curls without making them crunchy like gel. It will help to achieve the desired shape for a great style.

10 oz $15 a bottle, 34 oz $35 a bottle

I sell these products. You can place an order with me and pick them up in the salon or for a shipping fee I will send them to you!

EVERYONE always asks how I do my curls. Well, while you’re waiting for my tutorial (that is coming up SOON!) here is the tool I use. I only have two curling irons, and both are the Hot Tools *gold plated curling irons. I have both the 1” and the 1 ¼” and I don’t need anything else. These are magical. They seriously do half the work for me. You will never use a different curling iron again!

I like the 1” for a tighter, messier look. I usually do more wavy and beachy curls for a “boho” look with this curling iron. Or if I am feeling a tight and bouncy look I use this curling iron as well!

I like the 1 ¼” for bigger waves. This gives a very soft look. Sometimes I even use this just to soften my ends so I can wear it mostly straight with a rounded look. I also use this one for the famous “Victoria’s Secret” curls.

You can find these at Ulta and Sally’s. They are $35-$40.

These are my MUST HAVE products I always keep in stalk at the salon and for my personal use!
1. Lanza’s Neem Plan Silk Serum: This is my #1 seller at the salon. I have all my clients HOOKED on this stuff. It’s amazing. Use it daily at the end of each styling before finishing with hairspray. One pump a day is all you need. Rub through the ends for instant shine and softness. This magic in a bottle is non-greasy so it won’t weight the hair down. You can use it daily, even if you didn’t wash your hair. It won’t build up! It also heals and strengthens the hair, mending split ends! $25
2. Lanza’s Heat Protecting Spray: Use this before using any heat. A little goes a LONG way. Just mist all over hair. It add protection against heat and humidity while also acting as a style spray to help straighten or hold curls. This spray will also control any frizz while adding shine.  $15
3. Healthy Sexy Hair’s Soy Tri-Wheat Leave-in Conditioner: Use this after showering and before combing out. It’s both a nourishing moisturizer and reconstructor. It is also great for color treated hair. This will help detangle and soften hair while repairing and strengthening for soft, manageable hair. $13
4. Bed Head’s Masterpiece Hairspray: Hold’s any style, length and texture. Has tons of shine and is humidity resistant. It lasts all day but doesn’t feel crunchy or heavy. This is my all-time FAVORITE hairspray! $13
Again, you can order any of these products from me for pick up in the salon or to be shipped with a fee.

Makeup Tips
How to look good in pictures is a question many girls ask. Everyone wants to look great, but looking great in person and looking great in pictures are two different things.

Here are some makeup tips to help you accomplish the “Perfect Picture Look”:

1. Foundation is key. You want something a bit more matte than normal with more coverage. Mattes are flat colors that don’t have any sparkle or have any shimmer. I recommend Mac Pro Longwear. The nice thing about this is you can go to any Mac Counter and the professionals there will help you find the right color for your skin. You don’t have to go and guess!

2. While you’re at Mac, get what is called a Paint Pot. I like the color “Painterly” because it can highlight as well. Use this on your eye before adding any eye shadow. This will help to make colors truer and prevent any smudging or creasing.

3. BLUSH and BRONZER are two very over looked items. These are amazing for pictures, and in my opinion, should be used for every day wear as well. Skipping them will wash your face out. Without them you won’t have nearly the amount of definition that you want. Remember, don’t over apply. Start light and add more if needed. I recommend Mac Blushcremes for blush. Again, you want to pick a good color for your tone, so ASK the professionals there! For bronzer, I recommend Mac Bronzing Powder.

4. I suggest eye liner, whether you wear it usually or not. The darker hue will give you better contrast that will make your eyes pop more. I would do top and bottom. I like to use Stila’s Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner Pen for the top. This is like a felt tip marker that makes it impossible to mess up. For the bottom use a pencil and smudge with an angled brush.

5. Don’t forget your lipstick! Skipping lipstick will cause your mouth to blend in with the rest of your face. You need to contrast your features for best results. Put on a bold lip or even something light, but PUT SOMETHING ON! I like Covergirl’s Lips for great wear and even better price. The Colorlicious Lipglosses add color and shine. They also have great colors to choose from to get that look you’re going for.
6. You want to wear more eye shadow than you normally wear. You want your eyes to pop and be the main focus. Use a little darker color than you would normally wear. Highlight under the brow, have a good base color for your eye color, and a darker color on the corners and in the crease. You’ll LOVE the look when you get your pictures back. I love Urban Decay’s Naked collections.

7. Brows are also essential for making the eyes the focal point. I like Gerard Cosmetic’s Brow Bar. With this you can’t go wrong. It comes with the angle brush and everything you need to apply. Just follow the shape of your brow, filling in anything necessary as well as adding definition to the brows.

8. If you’re feeling brave enough, add some false lashes. You will absolutely love the look you get in your pictures. They add thickness and length to your regular eyelashes. In pictures, it will turn out like your regular eyelashes look in person. They will look extremely natural and add the perfect touch. Adding in a few lashes along the corners of your eyes can really highlight your eyes and make them look beautiful. Falsies are the way to go!

Sam’s “Witch Craft” Face Cleaning Remedy

When I was in high school, I really struggled with acne. I had those deep, painful, blemishes that just wouldn’t go away. They covered my face with ugly and painful marks. My mom bought everything for me. We researched and researched, went to the Dermatologist, tried EVERYTHING, and nothing seemed to help. I eventually happened upon Witch Hazel when reading about ways to help my acne. I asked my mom what she thought. She laughed and said that’s what lots of people used to use in the “olden days” and that it was worth a shot! It worked great. Along with the Witch Hazel, I have found the products that seem to be the best out there.
I have had lots of girls ask me what I do to keep my skin so clean and THIS IS IT! I have had multiple clients and friends follow these steps, and within a couple weeks they were seeing the same results I was! I absolutely love Neutrogena. I feel they really know what they are doing with acne medicine. I also use a couple different products FOR MY SKIN. You can stick with these product lines, but maybe you’re not super oily and shiny like I am, so you would want something for dry skin instead of oil free.
Here is what I use and the steps I use them in.
1: Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Daily Scrub – $7.99
I use this every morning when I wash my face in the shower, and over the sink at night to clean my makeup off.
2. Sea Breeze Astringent – $3.97
The generic kind works just as good as the more expensive kind. I just use a cotton ball to rub this all over my face. You will be impressed with how much dirt just washing your face misses. The astringent will go in and grab any leftover dirt right out of your pores.
3. Witch Hazel – $3.19
Use a cotton ball to also rub this all over the face. This goes in and makes pores smaller and clears blemishes.
4. Neutrogena Rapid Clear Gel – $8.99
This one is more expensive, but will last you a long time. I only use this stuff on a blemish or pimple that needs some extra love. This should not be rubbed all over face.
5. Neutrogena On-the-Spot Cream – $5.99
I just a drop of this and spread it over my oily areas where I am prone to break out. So for me I put a little of this on my cheeks, forehead above my nose, and chin under my lip. These are my trouble areas so this is something I use daily to prevent any breakouts.
6. Clean and Clear Oil-Free Dual Action Moisturizer – $5.27
I use one squirt of this to rub all over my face. Even if you are an oily person like me, you still want to moisturize. This is a very light weight lotion that moisturizes and protects the skin.
You can find all of these items at your local Walmart, Target, Walgreens, or drugstore. They last me quite a while.
Feel free to email me with any questions about this remedy!!!
Xoxo Sam

I’ve seen a lot of talk lately about eyelashes. What to use? Extensions or not? How to make them look longer? How do I apply my mascara? These are all common questions I get asked. Eyelash extensions, when done right and by a trained professional, are amazing. They add thickness and length to lashes as well as make your morning routine faster. I am always jealous of the girls that have them and can roll out of bed looking fresh and ready. The reality of it is, between teaching 4th grade part time and doing hair and makeup the rest, I just don’t have time or money to keep up on the extensions. If you are someone like me….here is the next best thing.

I recommend getting Babe Lash. This is a serum I put on nightly to help my lashes grow thicker and longer. After using it for a few weeks, I saw a huge change and am addicted to this product. It isn’t sold to the public, so you can place your orders with me!

Next, don’t let “spider leg” lashes be ok with you! Just because they are dark and noticeable, doesn’t mean they don’t look clumpy and caked. Make sure to go for a look that is separated and elegant. This will enhance the eye, rather than make them look heavy and small. I have tried so many mascaras ranging from $6 to $35 and have found that Maybelline Colossal Lash Volume Express Mascara ($4.97 at drugstores) is my FAVORITE. It instantly builds volume without clumps. I just sweep the brush from root to tip to plump my lashes and achieve volume and drama.
